Here at The We Talk Seahawks Podcast, we've been extremely lucky to have been joined on the show by some brilliant special guests.
Below you'll find the name and profile of each of the special guest interviews we've conducted, and a link to their respective episodes if you'd like to listen!
Lofa Tatupu
One of the greatest and most well-loved Seahawks players in recent memory, Lofa Tatupu re-wrote the formula of what a middle linebacker (MLB) should look like over his six seasons in Seattle (2005-2010). Drafted 45th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, Tatupu was written off by many as being too small to be a successful MLB, measuring 5'11" at the combine. It wasn't long before the "Polynesian Lion" silenced those critics, as his speed, coverage ability and ball-hawking skills enabled Tatupu to become one of the best linebackers of his era. He has a first-team All-Pro selection and three Pro Bowl selections to prove this.
In our interview with Lofa we discussed a range of topics, such as: Did Pete Carroll change as a coach from USC-Seattle?, His memories of playing in Super Bowl XL (40) vs Steelers, his memories of coaching Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright, What does life look like after Bobby Wagner?, Teammates he learnt the most from, Lofa reveals the hardest receiver he ever had to cover and the toughest running back he ever had to tackle, Lofa talks about why he founded his CBD company and we put his UK knowledge to the test in a quickfire quiz!
Charlie Wilson
Charlie Wilson is a well-respected and successful sports journalist, covering multiple different sports and live events for the Liverpool Echo and Manchester Evening News. Charlie also plays Linebacker and coaches them for the Scunthorpe Alphas of the British American Football Association.
Charlie is also a massive Seahawks fan, and he joined the show as part of our NFL Draft preview discussion, in which he demonstrates his high knowledge level of the game and indeed the draft process.
Mikaela Mattes
Mikaela Mattes is simply one of the best and most innovative rising stars of the Seahawks media world. Alongside her wife Kate, they form the Pacific North West Showdown Podcast, a show that covers practically every sport and sporting event that's happening in the Pacific North West region.
Mikaela joined us on the show back in the September of 2021 to review the Seahawks' week 1 regular season victory over the Colts, with her interesting insights and opinions as well as her expert knowledge being well worth the listen!
Chris Phillips
Chris Phillips (aka Will Dissly in disguise) is a Co-Host of the Ball Hawks Podcast, and one of the most genuine and funny people you're likely to find. Hailing from the beautiful nation of Canada, Chris' combination of a brilliant sense of humour, a fantastic level of knowledge and insight into the Seahawks and the game of football, and that wonderful Canadian accent, makes him one of the most enjoyable and insightful listens around.
Chris joined us on the show back in September of 2021 to preview the start of the 2021/22 NFL season, and it should make for an even more interesting listen now to see how innocent and confident we were ahead of last season.
Ray Roberts
Selected with the 10th overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1992 NFL Draft, left tackle Ray Roberts enjoyed four successful seasons with the Seahawks. Even though the team was in the midst of a rebuild, Roberts still paved the way for All-Pro running back Chris Warren to rush for over 1,000 yards in both 1993 and 1994. Roberts would spend the final five years of his nine year NFL career with the Detroit Lions, where he created gaps for the legendary Barry Sanders.
We sat down with Ray back in the April of 2021 and we still regard this podcast as one of the best we've produced to date. Ray is such an upbeat and lively character, and chatting with him about his draft experience, his favourite career moments and his memories of playing with greats such as the late Cortez Kennedy and the aforementioned Barry Sanders produced some fascinating and hilarious moments.
Jen Mueller
Since joining the Seattle Seahawks broadcasting team back in 2009, Jen Mueller has been one of the leading voices and most respected figures in the Seahawks media world. Whether it's via the Hawk's YouTube channel, on the radio or reporting from the sidelines on gameday, Jen covers everything and anything happening with the team. But she's not just a hugely talented broadcaster, Jen is also a published author and founder of her own company, Talk Sporty To Me.
We had the opportunity to speak with Jen back in February of 2021, in which we discussed a range of topics such as: Her career in the media, Jen shared some fantastic stories & insights from her time with the Seahawks, we talked about the opportunities for women in sport, the impact of Covid-19 on her line of work & we put some listener questions to Jen! Listen out for her recollection of reporting on Marshawn Lynch's 'Beastquake' run too, it's brilliant!
Rob Staton
BBC reporter, journalist and commentator Rob Staton was our very first special guest to appear on our show back in January of 2021. Aside from being one of the most recognisable and respected sports voices across the North of England, Rob is also a long-time Seattle Seahawks fan. In fact, Rob is one of the most recognised and respected voices in the Seahawks media world too, with the creation of his hugely popular Seahawks Draft Blog being one of the leading places for Seahawks content anywhere.
Our chat with Rob was and still is one of our favourite episodes we've ever recorded, and will always hold a special place in our hearts here at WTS for the aforementioned reason above. Our discussion with Rob consisted of us talking about: why the Seahawks became his team, Rob made the case for trading away Jamal Adams, a potential future working in the NFL? and plenty more!
Robert "Turbo" Turbin
Alongside Seahawks - and general NFL legend - Marshawn Lynch, Robert "Turbo" Turbin formed one-half of the most physically imposing and nightmare fuel one-two punches in NFL history. A 2012 fourth round pick for the Seahawks, Turbin would go on to play over 50 times for the team between the years 2012-2014, before re-signing with the club in 2019 to finish his NFL career. He was also a member of the Seahawks' Super Bowl winning squad in 2014.
Over the span of his eight years in the NFL, Turbin would also play for the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts. He finished his career with 1,354 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns, whilst also racking up 86 receptions for 688 yards and three receiving touchdowns.
In his final season of his four-year college career with the Utah State Aggies from 2007-2011, "Turbo" would set a school record for single season rushing touchdowns with 19! He would also rush for over 1,500 yards that season too!
In late June of 2022, we got the chance to sit down with Robert, and it was a fascinating chat! We discussed: Pez looks into "Turbo's" fascinating college career, Robert talks openly about his family & why they were his driving force, Super Bowl 48 memories, his favourite NFL touchdown, brilliant stories, your questions answered & more!
